about

The single "From Which the Lightness Grew" featuring Catherine Feeny is an Imago Dei original written at a songwriters retreat Fall 2017. Inspired by the Magnificat, Feeny delicately crafts words and melodies to paint a picture of the wonder of being pregnant with the hope of gospel in the midst of the darkest nights.

lyrics

We praise you in the morning
When all things can begin anew
Was word in the beginning
From which the lightness grew

Darkness on the surface
Oh the deepest night
Couldn't understand
The meaning of the light

We wake and find forgiveness
For all we did not see
When trusting in our own hands
To sow and also reap

Darkness in the sorrow
Of our deepest night, we
Couldn’t understand
the meaning of the light

We praise you in the morning
Hold space for what is new
Was you in the beginning
From which the lightness grew

We praise you in the morning
When all things can begin anew
